Infura Starknet Endpoints Are Decentralizing with DIN
On August 12, 2024, Infura will be migrating its Starknet endpoints to the Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN).
We are excited to announce that on August 12, 2024, Infura will be migrating its Starknet endpoints to utilize the Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN).
This migration is part of our ongoing commitment to provide our users with access to new and emerging networks run by trusted partners that have been vetted to ensure high quality and low latency - all via our management and monitoring systems.
What is DIN?
The Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN) is a decentralized provider-to-provider RPC & API marketplace. It offers highly-available, reliable, and performant connectivity to blockchain networks by leveraging a network of vetted providers. Infura's integration with DIN means that your Starknet requests will now be routed through this decentralized network to multiple Starknet providers, ensuring enhanced resiliency.
How does this impact your endpoints?
For our users, the transition will be seamless:
- No Endpoint Changes: You will continue to use the same Infura endpoint for submitting RPC requests to Starknet. We will automatically forward your requests to our DIN partners.
- Maintained Usability: There will be no impact on endpoint authentication, availability, or performance. The integration ensures that your interactions remain smooth and uninterrupted.
- Trusted Reliability: Our monitoring and management systems ensure fast, reliable & accurate node operations and will continue to monitor our partners to ensure that you continue to receive the performance and reliability that you are accustomed to with Infura.
- Automatic Failover: DIN has multiple Starknet node operators in its network and automatically routes requests to those providing the highest quality of service.
The benefits of decentralization
- Increased Resilience: Decentralized infrastructure enhances the network’s resilience. It mitigates the risks of single points of failure, ensuring that your operations are robust and reliable.
- Access to Emerging Networks: DIN enables Infura to quickly integrate new and emerging networks run by trusted partners. This means faster access to new blockchain innovations for our users.
- Access to the latest features: Networks are constantly evolving. By working with multiple trusted partners, DIN brings together specialized partners that can ensure that new client releases and features are made available as quickly as possible.
Changes in supported methods
As part of this update, there will be some changes to the supported methods for Starknet:
- Added: starknet_pendingTransactions
- Removed:
- starknet_estimateMessageFee
- starknet_traceBlockTransactions
- starknet_traceTransaction
If you are using any of the removed methods, please update your systems accordingly to ensure continuity after August 12th.
Next steps for DIN
We believe that decentralizing our infrastructure is a crucial step towards a more resilient and efficient Web3 ecosystem. Our partnership with DIN Providers is just the beginning. Infura has already utilized DIN to provide its users with failover services for networks such as Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche C-Chain, and access to several new networks including Blast, Holesky, Mantle, ZKsync, and now Starknet.
