As the Web3 space continues to evolve, so do the tools and networks available to developers. We’re excited to announce the addition of two new blockchain networks available to Infura customers: Base and Scroll. These networks are now available within your dashboard, expanding your toolkit with even more possibilities for scaling, experimenting, and innovating in the decentralized space.
Base network is now open to all
After a successful beta phase, Base is now live and available to all Infura customers. Built on the Coinbase platform, Base is a Layer 2 network that enhances the scalability and performance of Ethereum applications while maintaining security through Ethereum’s Layer 1.
Why build on Base with Infura?
- Immediate access: The base mainnet and Sepolia testnet are now accessible through the Infura dashboard, and no approvals are required. Get started instantly with just a few clicks.
- Real-time notifications: Use Infura’s fast WebSocket layer to receive real-time updates on new blocks, logs, and transactions, ensuring your dapp stays in sync with the Base network.
- Scalability without compromise: Base offers lower transaction fees and higher throughput while leveraging Ethereum’s security, making it ideal for scaling Ethereum-based dapps.
Get started: Simply log into your dashboard and enable Base for mainnet or Sepolia testnet to start building today.
Scroll: A zkEVM-based L2 is now in open beta
Infura is also proud to introduce Scroll, a zkEVM-based L2 solution for Ethereum, which is now available in open beta. Scroll is designed to offer the scalability of L2 with the security and compatibility of Ethereum’s EVM, allowing developers to deploy dapps without modification.
Scroll has also recently announced its $SCR token, which is a key part of Scroll’s roadmap to decentralization. The $SCR token will be used for protocol governance, supporting the decentralization of Scroll’s prover and sequencer as the network evolves.
Key benefits of Scroll:
- Full EVM compatibility: Deploy your Ethereum dapps on Scroll seamlessly without any code changes. Scroll’s bytecode-level compatibility ensures that all Ethereum tools and smart contracts work out of the box.
- Scalable and cost-effective: Leveraging zero-knowledge rollups, Scroll processes transactions faster and at lower costs than Ethereum mainnet, making it perfect for high-demand applications like DeFi and gaming.
- Real-time WebSocket support: Developers can now use Infura’s WebSocket support for Scroll, enabling real-time updates for blocks, logs, and transactions.
- $SCR token launch: Scroll’s $SCR token will support the network’s decentralization. Fifteen percent of the total supply will be distributed via airdrops, with the first airdrop happening on October 22, 2024. The token will be used for governance and later as a utility token within the Scroll ecosystem.
Get started: Log into your dashboard, enable Scroll, and experiment with Scroll’s zkEVM technology.
Why these network additions matter
Addinguse Base and Scroll to Infura’s network opens up new possibilities for developers to build dapps that are fast, secure, and cost-effective. Whether you're scaling existing applications or experimenting with new projects, these Layer 2 networks provide the flexibility needed to elevate your dapp development.
With Base, you gain a trusted Layer 2 solution built on Ethereum's security, while Scroll introduces the latest in zkEVM technology, enabling scalability and real-time interaction at a lower cost. Plus, with Infura’s WebSocket support for both networks, you can stay connected with real-time data to ensure your applications perform at their best.
The upcoming $SCR token launch adds a new dimension to Scroll, empowering the community with governance capabilities and contributing to its path toward full decentralization.
Get started today: Both Base and Scroll are now available in your dashboard. Log in, enable the networks, and start building with the reliable, scalable infrastructure that Infura is known for. As always, stay tuned for more updates as we continue expanding our network offerings.
What is DIN?
DIN is a decentralized service discovery marketplace enhancing the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of dapp development through a network of 50+ Web3 Infrastructure providers. DIN can serve 12+ popular blockchain network APIs and RPCs with high throughput and performance with no single point of failure. DIN is currently in a federated phase, progressively decentralizing traffic across Infura and MetaMask.
